Posted Repair Rates for Westminster Owners and Fleets
In short
Body and paint labor is $210 per hour, mechanical is $260 per hour, diagnostics are $285 per hour and credited against an authorized repair. Parts, materials, deposits, and tax treatment are all published below.

Publishing rates is unusual in this trade, and it is deliberate. A repair invoice you cannot audit is a repair invoice you have to take on faith. Every number below appears on your written estimate before any work begins, and every line on that estimate is something you can question.
Labor rates
| Discipline | Rate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Body and paint | $210 per hour | Panel repair, structural body work, refinishing, blending |
| Mechanical and electrical | $260 per hour | Chassis, driveline, onboard systems, generator, wiring |
| Diagnostics and programming | $285 per hour | One hour minimum, credited against an authorized repair |
| Detail | $95 per hour | Correction, reconditioning, coating preparation |
Materials and tax
| Item | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Paint supplies | $55 per paint hour |
| Body supplies | $5 per body hour |
| Hazmat and disposal | $45 flat when chemicals, refrigerant, or LP is involved |
| Sales tax | 7.75 percent on parts and materials, labor is not taxed |
Parts
| Category | Markup and terms |
|---|---|
| Parts at or under $100 | 100 percent markup on parts at or under $100 |
| Parts over $100 | 35 percent markup on parts over $100 |
| Special order parts | 100 percent non refundable deposit at time of order |
Assessments
| Type | Fee |
|---|---|
| RV systems assessment | $150, credited against an authorized repair |
| In depth diagnostic | 1 hour at $285, credited against an authorized repair |
Both are credited against an authorized repair. We charge for assessments because a real one takes a technician, a bay, and often panel removal to trace the damage path. A figure given over the phone without seeing the vehicle is a guess, and guesses are what become arguments once the work is underway.
Deposits and payment
| Stage | Terms |
|---|---|
| Work above $2,000 | 50 percent at authorization on work above $2,000 |
| Work above $10,000 | an additional 25 percent when parts arrive on work above $10,000 |
| Final balance | Due at pickup. No vehicle leaves the property until paid in full |
| Card payments above $1,000 | 3.5 percent on card payments above $1,000 |
Insurance billed work
We bill direct to every major carrier. Insurance billed jobs may be invoiced at a carrier negotiated labor rate that differs from the retail rates published above. Your out of pocket on a covered claim is normally your deductible plus anything the policy does not cover.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Why do you publish your rates when most shops do not
Because the alternative is a conversation where the customer has no way to check anything. When you can see that body labor is $210 an hour and that a repair was quoted at fourteen hours, you can question the fourteen. When all you get is a single total, you cannot question anything, and the only lever you have is suspicion. Published rates also make the insurance conversation cleaner, because a carrier estimate and our estimate can be compared line by line rather than argued about in the abstract.
Is the assessment fee charged on top of the repair
No. The RV systems assessment is $150, credited against an authorized repair. The in depth diagnostic is 1 hour at $285, credited against an authorized repair. In both cases, if you authorize the repair, the fee is credited against the invoice. The fee exists because a real assessment means a technician, a bay, and often pulling panels to trace the damage path, which is genuine labor. It is not a booking fee and it is not a deposit.
Why is the price range on each service page so wide
Because RV scope genuinely varies that much. Two coaches with visually identical sidewall damage can differ by a factor of ten once the panel comes off, depending on whether the structure behind it is intact, whether water has been sitting in it, and whether a previous repair was done badly. Narrowing those ranges would make them look more confident and be less true. The range narrows to a number once we have the vehicle on the floor.
What does the insurance rate have to do with the posted rate
Insurance billed work may be invoiced at a carrier negotiated labor rate that differs from the retail rates published here. That is a normal arrangement between shops and carriers and it usually works in the owner's favor, because the negotiated rate is what the carrier pays without argument. The posted rates on this page are what applies to customer pay work.
Do you require a deposit
Yes on larger jobs. 50 percent at authorization on work above $2,000, and an additional 25 percent when parts arrive on work above $10,000. Special order parts require a full non refundable deposit at the time we place the order, because RV parts are frequently non returnable once they are cut, drilled, or manufacturer ordered against a specific unit. The final balance is due at pickup.
What is not included in these rates
Parts, materials, sublet where it applies, and sales tax on parts and materials at 7.75 percent. Labor is not taxed in California. Storage may apply if a vehicle sits on the property after it is completed and ready for pickup. Everything that will appear on your invoice is on your written estimate before work starts, which is the point of writing one.
